So you've got acne. It's not your fault and there
is something you can do about it.

The "root cause" of acne is extreme
hormonal changes that take place in your body once you're past
puberty. In both males and females these hormonal changes are
necessary to make your body grow properly. In males, these shifts
in body chemistry continue into the late teens then, once body
growth has been achieved, they even out into a rhythm that will
continue during your mature years. In females the hormonal changes
moderate once you're fully grown. But your body chemistry - as
compared to that of a man - is a roller coaster of hormonal changes
that will continue until you have passed child-bearing years.
These hormonal changes during the "teen"
years of both males and females trigger changes in the oil producing
glands in your skin to the point that they over-produce and clog
pores which, in turn, are infected by bacteria. The result is
acne. In the case of females past the teen years the changes in
body chemistry produce the annoying 'zits' that frequently precede
menstrual periods.
Wash your face at least twice and preferably three
times daily. Acne Powerwash is a liquid. Squeeze about as much

of skin. The skin is made up of three layers, the epidermis,

outermost layer is made up of individual flat cells(called squamous
cells) that actually are layered, one on top of the other. Newly
produced squamous cells are made deep along the border of the
dermis and gradually push the older cells outward. As this outer
layer becomes thicker, the oldest cells eventually die. This
new, outermost, layer of dead cells becomes a specific anatomic
layer called the stratum corneum. GLYCOLIC ACID HAS ONE FUNCTION

SQUAMOUS CELLS!!! In fact, glycolic acid was initially patented

How does glycolic acid treatments cure acne?
The diagram to the right also shows a hair follicle and its
associated sebaceous gland. It is this gland that produces sebum,
an oily material that surrounds each hair follicle. Acne development,
simply put, is a situation where these sebaceous glands get
plugged and this sebum is not able to flow out in its regular
pattern around the hair follicle. The gland gets trapped and
this oily material then ruptures out into the surrounding tissue
causing the typical signs of acne i.e. white heads, pustules,

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your
doctor. THIS MEDICINE COMES WITH A PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET.
Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions
that you may have before using this medicine. BEFORE APPLYING
THIS MEDICINE, wash the affected area with a mild soap and gently
dry. Wait 20 to 30 minutes before applying the medicine. Apply
a thin film of medicine to the affected and surrounding area.
Rub in gently. Wash your hands immediately after using this medicine.
STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light.
IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, skip the missed dose and
go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Cautions
DO NOT GET THIS MEDICINE in your eyes or on the inside of your
nose or mouth. FOR THE FIRST 2 TO 3 WEEKS OF TREATMENT, your skin
condition may appear to worsen. This is expected. Do not stop
using the medicine during this time. DO NOT USE OTHER MEDICINES
ON YOUR SKIN without first discussing it with your doctor. While
you are using this medicine, you may use cosmetics. After using
cosmetics, thoroughly wash and dry the affected area before applying
this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to
the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths
until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen
if you must be outside. Do not apply this medicine to sunburned
skin. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with
your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during
pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast
milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using
this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss
the risks to your baby.
Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include redness,
peeling, stinging, or a feeling of warmth. If they continue or
are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience blistering, crusting, swelling,
excessive redness or peeling of your skin. If you notice other
effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center
or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if
swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include excessive redness,
peeling, and discomfort.
Additional information
Improvement of acne usually occurs after 2 to 3 weeks of regular
use of this medicine. Sometimes more than 6 weeks of regular use
may be required before improvement is seen. DO NOT SHARE THIS
MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE
THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE
out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED
PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
